For over a decade, I worked in the travel industry—booking holidays, organising tours, and even running my own travel company. Travel has always been a part of who I am. But nothing prepared me for the new kind of journey I’d take as a mum of two, trying to hold on to my passion while navigating family life, work commitments, and the ever-changing needs of growing children.
I’m not a single parent, but due to my husband’s demanding job, we’re only able to travel together as a family of four once or twice a year. As a home educator, I have the flexibility to travel with our children during off-peak times—and I started doing just that.
What began as a necessity turned into an opportunity. I learned to plan, pack, and parent solo while still creating magical travel memories. And with every trip, I realised how many other mums might want to do the same—but don’t know where to start.
Solo Mum Abroad is my way of showing you that yes—you can travel without waiting for the perfect time, or the full family setup. You can go, explore, and enjoy adventures with your children on your own terms.
Here, I’ll share:
- Our real-life travel stories (the fun and the meltdowns!)
- Honest advice from a mum who’s been in the industry
- Tips for home educators who want to turn trips into learning
- And support for other mums who are thinking, “Could I actually do this?”
Whether you’re a single parent, home educator, married mum, or just someone who wants to make travel part of your life again—I hope this blog makes you feel seen, supported, and excited about what’s possible.
We don’t need perfect plans—we just need passports and a little courage.
